Maruti Brezza facelift spotted with new gearbox and possible turbo engine
The upcoming facelift of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza has been spotted testing again, with the latest images revealing fresh details about its transmission and cabin updates. Earlier sightings had indicated small exterior revisions and the inclusion of an underbody-mounted CNG tank, while the newest spy shots suggest broader mechanical and interior changes could be in store for the compact SUV.
One of the key highlights from the latest test mule is the presence of a new 6-speed manual gearbox, which is expected to be paired with a different engine option. Reports indicate that Maruti Suzuki may introduce its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine – currently used in the Fronx – alongside the facelift. If introduced, this would give the Brezza a turbocharged option for the first time, while the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and factory-fitted CNG variants are likely to continue.
Inside, the Brezza facelift is expected to receive a revised dashboard layout and an upgraded infotainment system. Spy images hint at a larger display, possibly a 10.1-inch unit replacing the current 9-inch screen. The interior may also feature updated trim materials, new colour combinations and additional equipment aimed at keeping the model competitive in its segment.
Exterior changes appear to be relatively subtle, with a redesigned front bumper, repositioned fog lamp housings and new alloy wheel patterns expected. The rear could also gain updated lighting elements, potentially including a connected LED tail-lamp design and a revised bumper. While an official launch timeline has not been confirmed, the refreshed Brezza is expected to arrive during the festive season later this year or sometime in 2027. Prices are likely to see a moderate increase over the current Rs. 8.25 lakhs to Rs. 13.01 lakhs range, and the SUV will continue to compete with rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
