The S-Cross will be priced between Rs. 8-13 lakhs and keeping the entry-level price competitive will be the skimmed down base variant.

2015 Maruti S-Cross Base Version
The base trims gets steel wheels & roof carrier while power will come from the 1.3-litre unit

Come 7th June and Maruti Suzuki will be officially unveiling the 2015 India spec S-Cross compact SUV at the IIFA Awards in Malaysia. With the launch expected in the next one month, the crossover will be loaded on features including projector lamps, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera and a whole lot more. Maruti will also introduce an all-new 1.6-litre diesel unit on the crossover. Ahead of the unveil in a few days, the base variant of the S-Cross has been spotted out in the open suggesting that it misses out on several features.

Set to rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano as well as the upcoming Hyundai Creta, the India spec Maruti S-Cross base version gets steel wheels and a roof carrier, but misses out on wheel covers, projector lamps and LED DRLs. We expect the SmartPlay infotainment system to be replaced by a 2-DIN audio unit on the base variant while several other bells and whistles will be given a miss to keep the prices low. Nonetheless, the base S-Cross continues to sport the new twin-slat chrome front grille, body coloured door handle and ORVM; while the front and rear diffusers are still finished in brushed silver to compliment the black plastic cladding around the lower section.

In terms of power, the base Maruti S-Cross will be using the 1.3-litre DDiS motor from the Ciaz with 90 PS whereas the range-topping versions with the larger 1.6-litre diesel unit will make around 120 BHP. If speculations turn out to be true, Maruti could introduce a cab-friendly version of the S-Cross as well that will come with a similar appearance but will be further skimmed on features to keep the prices extremely competitive. The S-Cross will finally break cover in the following days and will have its prices starting from Rs. 8 lakhs going up to Rs. 13 lakhs for possibly the AWD equipped version.
