Maruti Super Carry becomes first LCV in segment to offer ESP, enhancing safety along with new features
Maruti Suzuki has introduced a significant update to its light commercial vehicle (LCV), the Super Carry, making it the first model in its segment to come equipped with Electronic Stability Program (ESP). This addition enhances the overall safety package of the Super Carry, catering to the evolving needs of small business owners and fleet operators.
Along with ESP, the Super Carry now also benefits from Engine Drag Control (EDC), a system designed to prevent wheel slippage during sudden deceleration. These systems work in tandem with traction control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Hydraulic Brake Assist to offer improved stability and safety, particularly when driving with a fully loaded cargo bed.
Powertrain Options and Performance
The Super Carry is powered by Maruti Suzuki’s familiar 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet engine, a 4-cylinder petrol unit that delivers 80 BHP at 6000 RPM and 104.4 Nm of torque at 2900 RPM. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
For operators prioritising lower running costs, Maruti Suzuki also offers a CNG variant. In CNG mode, the same 1.2-litre engine produces 71 BHP and 95 Nm of torque — a slight drop in output compared to the petrol version but with the added benefit of reduced fuel expenses.
Pricing and Variants
The 2025 Maruti Suzuki Super Carry is available in four configurations, with both deck and cab chassis body styles, across petrol and CNG fuel options. Prices (ex-showroom) are as follows:
- Petrol Deck: Rs. 5.64 lakhs
- Petrol Cab Chassis: Rs. 5.49 lakhs
- CNG Deck: Rs. 6.64 lakhs
- CNG Cab Chassis: Rs. 6.49 lakhs
Focus on Safety and Efficiency
With these updates, Maruti Suzuki aims to strengthen the Super Carry’s position in the small commercial vehicle market, offering both improved safety and flexibility to suit different business needs. The inclusion of advanced safety systems like ESP and traction control highlights a growing focus on making commercial vehicles safer, especially in segments where safety features are often limited.
By offering a choice between petrol and CNG, Maruti Suzuki also ensures that the Super Carry can appeal to businesses looking for cost-effective, eco-friendly transport solutions, while balancing performance and reliability.
