Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ will go on sale on 24th August, it will become the company’s flagship EV

Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, the first all-electric series production car from the German marque’s performance division, AMG, will be launched in India on 24th August. It will take the fight head-on against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Audi RS E-tron GT.

When launched in India, the all-new EQS will become the brand’s bespoke electric flagship. The 4×4 luxury limousine gets a couple of powerful motors – 1 mounted on each axle. Tuned by AMG, the motors get large coil windings and actuation through inverters.

In standard setting, the EQS 53 4Matic+ churns out 649 HP and 950 Nm which can be boosted to a humongous 751 HP and 1020 Nm with a dedicated Dynamic Plus package that includes a Race Start mode.

In the Race Start mode, the limousine can crack 100 km/hr in 3.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than the standard model. While the top-speed is electronically limited to 220 km/hr on the standard model, the Dynamic Plus package further hikes it to 250 km/hr.

The motors are supplied by a large 107.8 kWh battery pack and the claimed WLTP range is between 526 to 580 km. The battery management system is configured specifically for AMG with various driving modes.

For example, in what’s called Sport and Sport+ driving modes, the focus is on performance while in Comfort mode, the focus is on operating range.

The car’s AMG Ride Control+ air suspension features a 4‑link axle at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear. It’s combined with adaptive, electronically controlled adjustable damping and rear-axle steering as standard.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ gets AMG high-performance compound brake system with 6-piston calipers. The optional AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system uses larger brake discs.

The dedicated MBUX software adapts completely to its user and offers personalised suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions.
