The MG Astor price range rises till Rs. 16.78 lakhs for the top-spec turbo automatic variant

MG Motor India has launched the Astor today with a starting price of Rs. 9.78 lakhs (ex-showroom and introductory). Official bookings for the car will commence from 21st October, while deliveries will begin come November.

The compact SUV sporting a pleasing exterior design and a plush interior, comes with 5 exterior colour choices, namely, Aurora Silver, Candy White, Glaze Red, Spiced Orange and Starry Black.

There are 3 interior colour themes – dual tone Sangria Red, dual tone Iconic Ivory and Tuxedo Black – on offer as well.

It comes packed to the roof with features such as LED headlights (auto) and tail lamps, front fog lamps with cornering assist, rain-sensing wipers, and 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels, on the outside.

The car comes with a premium interior

Inside, one can find a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, and electronic parking brake.

There is more. The MG Astor will also come with steering modes (Normal, Urban and Dynamic), heated ORVMs, 5 USB ports and 1 power outlet, digital key, personal AI assistant, over 80 connected car features, and subscription-based services.

Customers have 2 engine options to choose from. The first is a 1498cc VTi-Tech naturally aspirated (NA) petrol motor making 110 PS and 144 Nm. It can be teamed to either a 5-speed manual or a 8-speed CVT.

The second and the more powerful alternative is a 1349cc ‘220 Turbo’ petrol engine putting out 140 PS and 220 Nm of torque. However, it is paired only to a 6-speed auto.

Riding on 215/55-R17 wheels, the compact SUV has disc brakes all-round, and an array of safety features like 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, TC and Hill Descent Control.

Level 2 autonomous tech and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are available as an optional pack that can be fitted to the turbo-petrol Sharp AT and the 1.5-litre VTi-Tech Sharp CVT variants.

Moreover, the compact SUV comes as standard with 3 years and unlimited kilometres warranty, 3 years of roadside assistance and 3 labour-free periodic services.

In addition MG says there is an assured buyback plan for the Astor under which customers will get 60 percent of the car’s ex-showroom price on completion of 3 years.
