The MG Hector Plus 6-seater will be launched by July

MG Motor, which is backed by Chinese carmaker SAIC, is firm on introducing its new products amid the COVID-19 worldwide crisis. The carmaker will introduce the MG Hector Plus and Gloster SUVs in India this year.

The MG Hector Plus is scheduled to be launched in the next three months, which means we will see the new 6-seater Hector on roads by July. The Gloster flagship SUV is scheduled for November launch in India this year while the G10 MPV is scheduled for March 2021 launch.

Both the SUVs were showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The Hector Plus is a 6-seater variant of the standard Hector which comes with styling changes including different headlights, grille, bumpers and tail lights. The interior design is similar with minor changes and new features expected to be launched.

The MG Gloster on the other hand is based on the Maxus D90 SUV. It is a full-sized premium SUV with an expected price of Rs. 40-45 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be available with 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. It will compete in the segment above the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

MG Motor India is predicting a 15-17 percent degrowth of the automobile industry in India. They believe, being a new entrant in the market, it is important for them to keep up with the momentum and keep adding new products to their portfolio.

MG Motor sources Fiat’s 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine for the Hector and several parts of ZS EV from China. Most of the components of the Hector are sourced from automotive hub in Pune.

The automaker claims they are in a better position than other carmakers. They have enough stock for now and more components can be managed post the lockdown.

MG Motor has exhausted all the BS4 stock well ahead of the BS6 deadline. The dealers don’t have any BS4 stock left. The carmaker has promised its employees and dealers that there will be no job cuts during this period.
