MG Launches The Windsor EV Pro, Gets Larger Battery

MG has launched the Windsor EV Pro. It is positioned above the regular Windsor EV with various upgradations and enhancements. Additionally, the Windsor EV Pro’s price starts from Rs. 12.49 Lakh (ex-showroom) for buyers who opt for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program.

The Battery-as-a-Service program is where the battery cost is excluded and charged monthly, based on distance travelled or a predetermined amount. The MG Windsor EV Pro will commence bookings from May 8, and prices start at Rs. 17.49 Lakh (ex-showroom). This introductory price will be for the first 8000 units.

Battery & Range

The MG Windsor EV Pro has a 52.9 kWh LFP battery pack. It will give a claimed range of 449 Km on a single charge. It is important to note that power and torque figures remain the same, 136 HP and 200 Nm respectively, powering the front wheels.

In terms of charging, the Windsor EV Pro is available with a 7.4 kWh AC charger, which can fill up the battery from 0% to 100% in 9.5 hours. Additionally, it also has a fast 60 kW DC charging that can charge from 20% to 80% in 50 minutes.

Exterior Changes

There are a few effective changes that help distinguish the Windsor EV Pro from the Windsor EV. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, similar to the MG Hector. MG also offers new colours: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver.

The rest of the EV Pro is similar to the standard Windsor EV and retains the connected LED lightbars in the front and rear, flush door handles, large window area, and the MPV-hatchback silhouette.

Interior Changes

The Windsor EV Pro has new beige upholstery on the seats, front armrest, roof and column liners. There are also new feature additions like Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) functionality. The latter can utilise the vehicle’s battery to charge other EVs and external devices.

The interior of the Windsor EV Pro also has Aero Lounge, offering recline angle up to 135 degrees for the rear seats. Not to mention, there is also ADAS Level 2 and a power tailgate. The inclusion of the larger battery pack has reduced the boot space from 604 litres (Windsor EV) to 579 litres in the Windsor EV Pro.

Outlook

The MG Windsor EV Pro has to face stiff competition from the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. The MG Windsor EV Pro stands out in the electric vehicle market with its advanced features, comfortable interiors, and flexible ownership options.
