TVS is reported to be developing new variants of its flagship scooter Jupiter that are scheduled to be launched in the coming years. The scooter is currently sold in two variants which include a standard model and a ZX trim and both of them are powered by a 110cc engine.

No official news about the new variants are out yet, but two new models equipped with disc brake and fuel-injection system were recently spied testing and the test mules also had O2 sensors while they missed out on the choke lever found on existing variants.

The new FI system will help the 110cc motor develop more power while the engine produces 8 BHP of power and 8 Nm of torque on the current carbureted variants. These new variants of the TVS Jupiter are aimed at providing a versatile lineup which will attract buyers with different tastes and choices.

With these measures, TVS aims at increasing production from 2.4 million units in the fiscal year 2015-16 to 3.6-4.2 million units by the year 2018-19. The Chennai-based automaker aspires to achieve a market share of over 21-22% in 3 years for which the company will have to increase the current production of 2 lakh units a month to 3-3.5 lakh units.
