2022 Porsche Macan, Taycan & Taycan Cross Turismo Launched

Like many EVs from other luxury carmakers, the Porsche Taycan too comes with a huge asking price

Porsche has introduced the pure-electric Taycan at a starting price of Rs. 1.50 crore, along with the Taycan Cross Turismo which costs from Rs. 1.70 crore and the facelifted 2022 Macan at Rs. 83.21 lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom, India), today, in India.

Porsche Taycan & Taycan Cross Turismo –

Available in standard, 4S, Turbo and Turbo S variants, the very popular electric car comes with full LED lights, stunning design and a cabin that brims with technology.

For example, Porsche offers, in the cabin, a 16.8-inch driver’s display, 2 10.9-inch touchscreens and a 8.4-inch screen for controlling the cabin temperature.

Also, there are touch-sensitive panels as opposed to normal buttons, smartphone connectivity, over-the-air updates, among several other features. As one moves up the variant ladder, more kit like 18-way powered seats, matrix LED headlights, among others, will be offered.

The Taycan Cross Turismo estate is available in 4S, Turbo and Turbo S grades in India. It is the more rugged version of the Taycan which has more ground clearance (30 mm) making it the more practical option.

The standard Taycan with rear-wheel drive (RWD) has a 79.2 kWh battery, 408 HP and 484 km claimed range. The Taycan 4S has the same battery pack, but it features all-wheel drive (AWD), 530 HP.

The Turbo and Turbo S also have AWD, a larger 93.4 kWh battery, and power outputs of 680 HP and 761 HP, respectively. Unsurprisingly, it is the Turbo S with 1050 Nm of torque, that is the fastest of the bunch, being able to do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 2.8 seconds.

As for the Taycan Cross Turismo, the 4S model has 571 HP, while the Turbo and Turbo S make the same output as the 4-door coupe. Also, the entry-level Cross Turismo can only cover 456 km in one go.

The EVs support charging speeds of up to 350 kW and Porsche claims their battery packs can be recharged (5-80 percent) in 20 minutes using a supercharger. Using a 11 kW charger, it takes 9 hours for the battery to be recharged.

2022 Macan facelift –

While the German automaker will sell the Macan in standard, S and GTS grades, the asking price of only the base model has been revealed as of now.

For model year 2022 (MY22), the crossover features cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. It now has a restyled radiator grille, new LED headlamps, ‘Sport Design’ ORVM, larger wheels and a revised diffuser. It goes without saying that the GTS variant will come with sporty elements to stand apart from the regular variants.

On the inside, the centre console has been decluttered, while there is also a new gear selector and a touch-sensitive panel that has been put in place of regular buttons.

The 2022 Macan features the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and Sport Chrono package, along with a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, among other features.

In terms of standard equipment, the Macan gets a 10.9-inch touchscreen display that runs Porsche’s sixth-generation infotainment software platform, Apple CarPlay compatibility, Sport Chrono package and air suspension (GTS).

The base model of the 2022 Macan is powered by a 265 HP, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, whereas, the soon-to-be launched Macan S and GTS come with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 making, respectively, 380 HP and 440 HP. A 7-speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel drive come as standard.
