The Continental GT will begin delivery by February 2019, a week after the Interceptor 650’s delivery begins.
The Royal Enfield 650 Twins- the Intercepter 650 and the Continental GT 650 are finally available at showrooms and can be booked at a small sum of Rs. 5000/-. But now, another turn of events has made the wait of the customers who have been eyeing the 650 Twins extend a little bit longer.
Dealer sources said deliveries of the Interceptor 650 will start only by the end of January 2019. For the Continental GT 650, it is said to start by the first week of February. Thus, the company has further increased the wait period by 3 months. Royal Enfield has not responded to queries made so far.
The extended timelines were collected from dealers across three major cities in India – Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The motorcycles will first be released in the major cities and then will be sold across India. Dealers across the country have said that they have continuously received enquiries since the last two months from the day of the launch.
They have also begun with test rides and in some cases, door-step test rides of the 650 Twins. While they did not share exact booking numbers, dealers said that the customers who have taken the bikes to experience the test rides have shown satisfaction with the new and smooth cruising feel of both bikes, in particular with the Interceptor 650’s experience.
Both bikes are assembled at the Oragadam plant in Chennai, which is one of the manufacturing hubs for its parent company, Eicher Motors. Both 650 Twins owe their power to the 648cc, counter balanced parallel-twin cylinder engine.
The engine is able to produce a maximum power of 47 BHP and a peak torque of 52 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch with assist feature. The motorcycles also feature the same twin cradle, tubular steel frame in conjunction with Harris Performance.
