RE to bridge the gap between 350cc and 650cc motorcycles.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X Review
RE making a new mid-size platform for global growth in segment

Royal Enfield is the mid-size king in the domestic market. Their 350cc bikes are quite popular in the country. While the 650cc motorcycles have seen 4 times the growth since launch.

The Indian motorcycle brand holds 95 percent market share for bikes above 250cc. They are also getting a lot of demand from the international market as their footprint expands gradually.

RE is now focussed in the mid-size segment only. They recently discontinued the old 500cc engine bikes from their lineup completely. Now they are looking at a new platform.

The company wants to bridge the gap in between the 350cc and 650cc products. They are working on a new platform to position it between the two. This upcoming platform might spawn multiple bikes with a modular architecture.

Company officials claim that the demand for very high-end products is falling rapidly. Those buyers are also coming down to mid-size products. Hence, they are expecting significant growth for mid-size bikes.

Focusing strictly in this segment, Royal Enfield 500cc platform will open more avenues for them. We can expect a range of various segment bikes from this platform.

Vinod Dasari, CEO, Royal Enfield has revealed they are working on utilising the infrastructure better. Both UK and Indian teams are working towards it. They are focusing on getting more from current infra.
