Royal Enfield Testing 750cc Engine, To Debut In The Continental GT-R
Royal Enfield has been spotted working on the successor of the 650cc twin-cylinder engine. The reports suggest that it is going to be a 750cc engine, codenamed ‘R’. The first bike to launch utilising this new engine will be a café racer style Continental GT-R.
Engine Details
The Royal Enfield Continental GT-R will be powered by a larger version of the existing 648cc parallel twin motor. It is expected that the larger engine will get a power boost of at least 10 HP. It can borrow various design cues from the existing 650cc bike range.
The Continental GT-R featuring the 750cc engine will be faster and heavier than the outgoing GT650, which can mean it will have a better braking setup than before. A dual-disc setup with floating pistons and calipers is expected in the front. This setup will be carried over to the racing version of the GT-R, which is expected to be utilised in the Continental GT Cup.
Expected Pricing
The Continental GT-R 750 is expected to be more expensive than the outgoing GT650, but the exact pricing is still a question mark. This is because the current flagship bike of the 650cc platform is the Super Meteor 650, which is priced at Rs. 3.03 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Outlook
It remains to be seen whether it is more expensive than even the current flagship of the brand. The new café racer with the 750cc engine is expected to debut before 2026. This has generated a lot of excitement amongst the enthusiasts. Royal Enfield has also been testing camouflaged models, which can be seen in the café racer silhouette.
