The Suzuki Jimny which has created so much buzz in the auto industry has now been crash tested by the Euro NCAP.

The new Suzuki Jimny has been crash tested by Euro NCAP and the SUV has scored a rating of 3 stars. It scored 73% in adult occupant protection and 84% in child occupant protection. The tested car was loaded with dual front airbags, side airbags, ABS, Lane Assist System, AEB, ISOFIX mounts and seatbelt pretensioners.

It has been stated by NCAP that the driver side airbag had insufficient pressure and hence the head had contact with the steering wheel. Protection for this part of the body has been stated as marginal. In the offset test, the cabin extensively deformed and this lead to a penalty in the score for the driver’s test.

There was good protection for the knees but some parts in the dashboard and instrument cluster posed a risk of injury to occupants with protection being marginal. Impact protection for rear passengers was also rated as weak while tests on the front seat headrests showed marginal protection incase of a whiplash due to a rear impact.

The rear seats offered good protection. The Suzuki Jimny also comes with Autonomous Emergency Braking which performed well during the tests. The Jimny also got a score of 50% for its safety assists and 52% for vulnerable road users.
