Tata Altroz Racer Spied

Tata Altroz Racer spotted sans camouflage for the first time on Indian roads

Tata Altroz Racer is getting set for its launch by early June. Recent leaks confirmed the launch timeline along with a few more details of the performance centric hatchback. The upcoming car has now been spotted completely undisguised out on the road for the first time.

The road presence of the Altroz Racer is quite striking, thanks to the bright orange colour with dual tone theme of black roof, black ORVMs, dual tone alloy wheels and white racing stripes on the hood and the roof. We thought these stripes won’t make it to the production car or it will be offered as an option but good to see these on the final production car.

Looking at the spy shots, it seems like the Altroz Racer is already despatched from the factory and is ready to hit the showrooms very soon. The interior of the Altroz Racer will get the same dashboard but some unique treatments to differentiate it with the regular model.

Tata Motors will be offering an all-black interior theme along with orange highlights on the AC vents, centre console, upholstery and the contrast stitching on the steering wheel, gear knob and door pads. They will also introduce orange ambient lighting for the centre console and the footwell are to further accentuate the sporty appeal inside the cabin.

Along with these aesthetic changes, the Altroz Racer will get features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI, ventilated leatherette front seats, 360 degree camera, voice activated electric sunroof, heads-up display and 6 airbags as standard.

It will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, which is borrowed from the Nexon. This engine produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. It will only be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission according to the leaked documents. However, we believe Tata will offer the 6-speed DCA transmission sooner or later.

Tata Motors will introduce the Altroz Racer as a direct competitor to the Hyundai i20 N Line. The latter is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. It is available with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT automatic. Which one of these performance hatchbacks would you buy? Let us know in the comments section below.
