Tata Motors has revealed the XpresT EV, which will be the first car to be sold under its newly launched Xpres brand.

The brand will cater exclusively to fleet customers and products launched under it will focus on safety, passenger comfort and low cost of ownership, says Tata.

On the outside, the fleet version of the Tigor EV will come with alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, LED high mount stop light, piano black front grille and rear parking sensors, while inside, it gets black interior with electric blue accents, fabric seats and automatic temperature control.

To be soon available at select dealerships, the Tata XpresT EV will be offered in XM+ and XT+ variants and there will be 2 range options for customers to choose from.

The model with 16.5 kWh battery has a claimed range of 165 km, while the variant equipped with 21.5 kWh battery pack can go up to 213 km on a single charge.

Tata says the normal charging time to top the battery is 11.5 hours (0-100 percent). However, using a DC fast charger would reduce the waiting period to 110 minutes (0-80 percent).

A 72 V 3-phase AC induction motor powers the XpresT compact sedan and it puts out 30 kW (40.2 BHP) and 105 Nm of torque and is mated to a single speed transmission.

The sedan has a top speed of 80 km/hr and also features ‘Eco’ and ‘Sport’ drive modes. It rides on 14-inch rims wrapped with 175/65-section rubber and in terms of safety, the EV which weighs 1590 kg has dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

Tata has stated that its electric vehicles will be supported by a comprehensive captive charging solution provided by Tata Power.
