Tata Nexon EV facelift revealed with many improvements

Tata Motors reveal the new Nexon EV facelift which is scheduled to go on sale on 14th September, price announcement on the same day. While the updated model looks very similar to the ICE version, there are some changes to differentiate the two.

The front fascia has got a connecting LED light strip on the nose and the bumper is a bit different as well. The LED lights are dynamic and offer features like welcome and goodbye sequence along with charging indication. The rear lights too offer welcome and goodbye sequence. Colour options include white, grey, teal, purple and red.

The Nexon EV is offered with three variants – Empowered, Fearless and Creative. It comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is even larger than the ICE version’s 10.25-inch unit. The 10.25-inch digital cluster is the same along with the two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo and backlit buttons.

Some of the features include 9-speaker JBL audio system including sub-woofer, Arcade.ev with access to OTT apps, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, air purifier, electronic parking brake, auto dimming IRVM, rain sensing wiper, auto headlamps, 360 degree camera, ventilated front seats, sunroof, etc.

Some of the safety features include 6 airbags standard, ABS, ESC, front parking sensors, ISOFIX, SOS call, Blind Spot Monitor, Hill Ascent Control, Hill Descent Control, all-disc brakes, etc.

Tata Motors have now removed the Prime and Max nomenclatures. Instead, the new Nexon.ev will be available with Medium Range and Long Range variants.

Medium Range gets a 30kWh battery while the Long Range gets a 40.5kWh battery pack. They offer an ARAI claimed range of 325 km and 465 km respectively. Compared to the outgoing Nexon EV, the range has gone up by 12 km.

The most interesting part about the Nexon EV facelift is the fact that it comes with bi-directional charging of Vehicle to Vehicle and Vehicle to Load. Basically you can charge other electric cars and electric appliances with this tech.

The electric powertrain in the Medium Range produces 129 HP and 215 Nm torque and in the Long Range version it produces 142 HP and 215 Nm of torque. Shockingly the power output remains unchanged and the torque is down by 30 Nm and 38 Nm respectively.

They claim a 0-100 km/hr acceleration in 8.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 150 km/hr. There are three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. It comes with 4-level regeneration.
