Tata has commenced production of its compact SUV, the Nexon at its Ranjangaon facility. The Nexon will be Tata’s rival to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V. The Nexon will be the fourth vehicle from Tata to wear the IMPACT design language.

Tata will soon be dispatching cars to dealerships across the country in a phased manner and will launch the compact SUV by October this year. Designed at Tata’s in-house facility in Pune, two new generation engines will make their debut in the Nexon.

A 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Revotron family producing 110 HP of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine producing 110 HP of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque powers the Tata Nexon. Both these engines will come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Other features include 3 driving modes – City, Eco and Sport, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone interior, multi-function steering wheel, 6.5-inch Harmon-Kardon infotainment system, start-stop button, rear-view camera and rear AC vents.

Unlike previously, Tata now isn’t taking much time to launch its vehicles. In January it launched the Hexa and followed it up with the styleback Tigor in March.
