Maruti Wagon R Safety Rating Tata Tweet
Such light-hearted jabs are fine, let us see if Maruti responds

Tata has poked fun at Maruti Wagon R for the 2-star safety rating it achieved in the Global NCAP crash tests conducted last year.

It looks like Tata is not one to be stopped from posting disparaging remarks about the Global NCAP safety ratings of the cars rivalling its Tiago hatchback.

After ridiculing the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS recently, the carmaker, on 22nd November, put out a tweet stating “Safety is ‘two’ important to be ignored. Be smart before someone overturns your caRt”.

A poster with a wooden wagon/cart which has a broken wheel was also attached with the tweet. The carmaker also asked customers to choose the Tiago for it has been rated four stars by GNCAP.

Global NCAP had in 2019 crash tested the Wagon R to check how its safeguards its occupants during a crash. When crashed at 64 km/hr, the car’s bodyshell was rated unstable, while it received two stars for both adult and child occupant protection.

Some positives to be taken from the Maruti Wagon R safety rating was that the car offered good protection to the driver and passenger’s head, while neck protection was also adequate.

But there were more negatives, chief among which was the fact that the 3-year-old Child Restraint System (CRS) failed during the test.

While Tata’s online team is making fun of its products, Maruti Suzuki put out a tweet earlier, on 20th November, stating that it is India’s favourite automobile brand.

Also, the firm stated that it is “dedicated to continue strengthening our place in all your hearts – our favorite family of customers!”.
