Tata Punch
It has a likeable design, does the Punch

Tata is likely to announce the official commencement of bookings for the Punch very soon

Tata dealers have begun accepting bookings for the soon-to-be launched Punch mini crossover. Revealed recently, the Punch will sit below the Nexon in the automaker’s crossover/SUV lineup in India.

Sporting a compact footprint and butch looks, the Punch is based on the ALFA platform like the Altroz premium hatchback.

Looking like a mini Harrier, from the front at least, the micro crossover’s styling stays true to the HBX Concept showcased at last year’s Auto Expo.

However, Tata is yet to reveal the interior of the vehicle, which is likely to happen closer to its launch scheduled for this festive season. But, it would be safe to assume that the interior of the car will be very similar to that of the HBX Concept.

The arrival of the car will increase competition in the niche segment

Expect to see a ‘floating’ infotainment touchscreen, multifunctional steering wheel, smartphone connectivity and a whole host of safety features inside the car.

A 1.2-litre petrol engine is set to power the Punch which would also be offered with drive modes. The transmission options should include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

It is not yet known if the crossover, which will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT, will get a turbocharged version of the engine or not.

Since the Tata Punch bookings have begun unofficially, its launch should take place very soon, but not before an announcement about the official commencement of bookings is made.
