Tata Motors teases Punch facelift ahead of January 13 launch in India

Tata Motors has released the first teaser of the updated Punch, confirming that the facelifted micro-SUV will be launched in India on January 13. This will mark the mid-cycle update for the Punch, which has been on sale since 2021 and currently stands as Tata’s highest-selling model.

The teaser offers a partial glimpse of the exterior, indicating a more upright and SUV-focused design compared to the outgoing version. While full details remain under wraps, the visual changes suggest an effort to align the Punch with Tata’s newer design language.

Exterior updates point to a bolder stance

From the teaser video, the refreshed Punch appears to adopt a more muscular front-end. Key highlights include redesigned LED headlamps and fog lamps, slimmer daytime running lights, a new grille and a reworked front bumper that adds to the vehicle’s road presence.

At the rear, the facelift is expected to feature a connected tail-lamp layout, a design element increasingly seen across Tata’s recent models. The teaser also hints at newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels. Overall, the changes suggest a more commanding stance, though the full extent of the updates will only be clear at launch.

Interior and features: expectations from newer Tata models

The cabin of the new Punch has not been officially revealed yet. However, based on Tata’s recent launches, the facelifted model is expected to see significant upgrades in terms of technology and features. Likely additions include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a new steering wheel and a revised dashboard layout.

Features such as a 360-degree camera system and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are also expected to be introduced, though Tata has not confirmed the final equipment list. The facelifted ICE Punch is also expected to closely mirror the styling and feature set of the Tata Punch EV.

Powertrain expected to remain unchanged

Mechanically, the updated Punch is likely to retain the existing 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. In petrol form, the engine produces 87 BHP and 115 Nm of torque and is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. A CNG variant is also expected to continue, with outputs of 72 BHP and 103 Nm.

More details, including variant-wise features and pricing, are expected to be revealed closer to the official launch.
