With increased output Mahindra would be able to sell more units of the Thar

Hyundai Venue led the sales in the compact SUV class in April 2021 by the smallest of margins from second-placed Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. While the Hyundai product fetched 11,245 unit sales, Maruti retailed 11,220 units of its compact SUV.

Kia India’s Sonet continues its strong run by adding another 7724 units to its tally in the month of April. The Nexon was once again the best-selling Tata car in April, for 6938 individuals fancied buying one.

Fifth place in the April 2021 compact SUV sales list was occupied by the Mahindra XUV300 as it sold 4144 times over, followed by the Thar, 3406 units of which Mahindra was able to handover to eager customers.

Then comes the Nissan Magnite with 2904 unit sales. With Nissan planning to increase output from the current 2700 units a month to 3500 units by July, the compact SUV should see its waiting period come down and sales rise soon.

Following the Nissan car is its twin from Renault, the Kiger, which found 2800 homes this past month, while the Toyota Urban Cruiser was chosen only by 2115 people.

In the last place sits the Honda WR-V with 1194 unit sales. But, it was at least among the 4 models that managed to post positive month-on-month (MoM) growth figures, unlike several other models which saw their sales drop.

Total sales of the cars in the segment stood at 57,510 units, which is a 4 percent degrowth MoM.
