The month-on-month comparison has been made due to there being no car sales in April 2020

Midsize SUV sales in April 2021 was once again led by the Hyundai Creta, while the Kia Seltos occupied the second place comfortably.

With over 12,400 unit sales, the Creta remains unreachable at the moment and the car has also managed to maintain this strong run for a while now.

The same goes for the Kia Seltos which has also been doing well ever since it got launched in the market. In April, the model fetched 8086 unit sales for Kia.

Mahindra’s Scorpio came a distant third with 3577 units of the ageing SUV sold this past month, while Maruti Suzuki’s found 2247 takers during the same period.

Next up is the MG Hector (which also accounts the Hector Plus’ sales figures) that registered sales of 2147 units. However, Tata Motors’ Harrier (1712 units) and Safari (1514 units) duo managed to eclipse MG’s midsize offering this in April with a combined sales figure of 3226 units.

Then comes the Compass from Jeep with 846 unit sales, followed by the Mahindra XUV500 which registered sales of 717 units. Other models including the Skoda Karoq and MG ZS EV in the April 2021 midsize SUV sales list did not do well.

The CR-V does not feature in the list as Honda did not sell any unit of the SUV

Coming to the premium SUV sales for the month of April, one would hardly have to guess which vehicle is most favoured by Indians. Of course it is the Toyota Fortuner which led the segment sales with 1414 units to its name.

But the Ford Endeavour was not far off, for it registered sales of 840 units this past month, followed by the Gloster which was driven home by 302 buyers. The Hyundai Tucson (105 units) and Mahindra Alturas G4 (24 units) complete the list.

*It is to be noted that the time of writing this article, the sales data of the Citroen C5 Aircross was not available. However, it is said Citroen sent 230 units of the premium SUV to its dealerships in April.
