Toyota Raize name trademarked along with Taisor
Toyota has trademarked two names recently in India – Raize and Taisor. We expect these names will be used for rebadged Maruti cars in the near future.
As we all know, Toyota and Suzuki have a global partnership for sharing products and technology with each other. In India too, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki share a couple of products including Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder / Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Glanza / Maruti Baleno.
Toyota also borrowed the Maruti Vitara Brezza to offer their version called Toyota Urban Cruiser. Now that the previous generation Brezza has been discontinued, there is a gap in this space for Toyota.
With the two names trademarked, we believe Toyota will introduce the rebadged versions of Maruti Fronx and Maruti Brezza. Toyota can’t use the Urban Cruiser nomenclature again with the Brezza since the Hyryder is using it already.
We can expect mild styling tweaks for these badge engineered products. Of course the Toyota logo will be there. Along with that we could see a revised grille and a different set of alloys on offer on both the cars. The interior will remain unchanged but might come with different colour tones.
