Toyota Urban Cruiser Price Starts At Rs. 8.40 Lakhs

Toyota Urban Cruiser Colours — It is available in 9 colour options including dual-tone ones

After a long wait, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is finally here, price starts from Rs. 8.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in three variants – Mid, High and Premium.

Customers can choose between manual and automatic transmission options across all variants, which is a good thing. However, the premium price of Rs. 1.50 lakhs over the manual gearbox is too steep for a 4-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of styling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser looks the same as the Maruti Vitara Brezza apart from the updated soft parts including the grille and the bumpers.

Toyota is promoting it as a baby Fortuner since the grille is inspired by their premium SUV, which is extremely popular in our country.

The interior is more or less the same apart from the Toyota badging on the steering wheel and the new dark brown upholstery.

Powering the car is the same 1.5-litre BS6 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 103 HP and 138 Nm of torque. Toyota claims 17.03 km/l of fuel efficiency for the manual version while the automatic version with its mild-hybrid tech returns a higher efficiency of 18.76 km/l.

Some of the features include 16-inch diamond cut alloys, LED headlights, LED tail lights, smart entry with push button start/stop, cruise control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, auto AC, rain sensing wipers, electrochromic rear-view mirror, etc.

There are 9 colour options on offer including 3 dual-tone colours. Deliveries of the car to commence from mid-October.

It will be interesting to see the sales of this compact SUV since the Urban Cruiser has to compete with a range of cars. Rivals include Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, etc.
