TVS RTX 300 Spotted Testing, Will Come With a New 299cc Engine
TVS seems to be gearing up to launch its new adventure tourer, the Apache RTX 300, very soon. A test mule was recently spotted. The first images of the motorcycle surfaced at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January.
Wheels & Tyres
The Apache RTX 300 appears more road-focused than off-road, judging by its design and components. It rides on 19-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels with road-biased tyres. The suspension travel seems moderate, suitable for touring but not hardcore trail riding.
Suspension
It looks like comfortable touring is a priority, with features like a tall windscreen, spacious seat, and upright riding posture. These elements will make it ideal for long-distance travel. It offers more versatility than TVS’ regular street bikes.
Engine & Transmission
TVS powers the bike with a new 299cc, liquid-cooled RTX D4 engine developed entirely in-house. This replaces the older BMW-sourced 312cc motor. The engine produces 35 HP and 28.5 NM of torque.
The six-speed gearbox comes with an assist and slipper clutch for smoother performance. This engine shall be on a new trellis frame. The frame is likely purpose-built for the RTX 300 platform.
Features
TVS is expected to equip the bike with many premium features to attract riders. A colour TFT display and riding modes should be included. Switchable ABS and traction control will likely be on offer.
The RTX 300 will be the first bike based on this new platform from TVS. This platform will eventually support other models too. A supermoto version is expected to follow later.
Outlook
We expect TVS to launch the Apache RTX 300 in the coming months. Its features and engine make it look promising. TVS could soon emerge as a strong player in India’s ADV motorcycle segment.
