Mahindra BE 7 Spotted

Mahindra’s upcoming BE 7 electric SUV has been spotted testing again ahead of its expected debut. The latest spy images provide a closer look at the production model, suggesting that the company is retaining several design elements from the earlier BE.07 concept while introducing premium features such as frameless doors.

Two camouflaged test vehicles were seen undergoing road testing near Mahindra’s SUV Proving Track (MSPT) close to Chennai. Interestingly, both prototypes wore different camouflage patterns, indicating that they could be undergoing separate rounds of testing.

The BE 7 is expected to be positioned above the BE 6 in Mahindra’s Electric Origin lineup. Based on the proportions seen in the spy images, the SUV appears to stay close to the BE.07 concept’s overall silhouette, featuring a muscular stance, upright proportions, prominent C-pillars and squared-off styling. Flush-fitting door handles, pronounced wheel arch cladding, large alloy wheels and a roof-mounted rear wiper are also visible.

One of the most notable details revealed by the latest test mule is the presence of frameless doors. If this feature is retained on the production version, the BE 7 is expected to become one of the first mainstream passenger vehicles in India to offer frameless door windows, a feature typically associated with premium and luxury cars.

The prototypes appear to be fitted with temporary lighting units, suggesting that the final headlamp and tail-lamp designs are still under development.

Inside, the production-spec BE 7 is expected to feature a cabin inspired by Mahindra’s latest electric SUVs. While official details are yet to be revealed, the SUV could offer a triple-screen dashboard layout, a redesigned dashboard, new interior trims and sportier seating. The test vehicles, however, appear to be using seats similar to those seen in the XEV 9e.

The BE 7 is likely to be underpinned by Mahindra’s INGLO platform and could share its powertrain options with the BE 6 and XEV range. Expected battery choices include 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs, with a claimed driving range of around 600 km. Real-world range figures are expected to be lower depending on driving conditions.

Mahindra has not announced an official launch timeline for the BE 7, although industry speculation suggests the electric SUV could make its debut later this year.
