The premium compact SUV will be launched in India in Feb 2020

Volkswagen is planning to launch a range of SUVs for the Indian market starting next year. At the 2020 Auto Expo, the German carmaker will launch the compact premium SUV T-Roc in India. It will be imported via the CBU route as VW plans to use the 5000 units quota of importing cars with homologation in India.

The Volkswagen T-Roc is expected to be priced around Rs. 19-20 lakhs. It will compete with the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos and Jeep Compass. The German carmaker is looking at limited volumes for the T-Roc initially.

It will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol TSI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen will be offering only a single variant of the T-Roc which will be loaded to the gills in terms of safety and convenience features.

The T-Roc will be available in India only in twin tone roof variants and limited colour options. This will be the first compact SUV offered by VW in India and it’ll be interesting to see how the audience accepts it in our country.

Volkswagen is also preparing to introduce T-Cross in India and we can expect the carmaker to exhibit the India-spec T-Cross at the 2020 Auto Expo along with the T-Roc. The Volkswagen T-Cross India launch is expected to happen in June 2020.
