Volkswagen Virtus India Launch
The Virtus will replace the Vento in Volkswagen’s Indian line-up

The official reveal of the Volkswagen Virtus will take place in March

Volkswagen has announced that it will reveal the Virtus C-segment sedan on 8th March 2022 in India. The market launch of the car will take place in the third week of May.

This was recently revealed by Brand Director of Volkswagen India, Ashish Gupta, who said, with the introduction of the Vento’s replacement, the German marque will be rounding up its portfolio in the country.

Underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN platform already used by the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen’s own Taigun, the Virtus will share its powertrains with the upcoming Slavia from the Czech brand.

Thus, the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI motor (115 PS and 178 Nm) and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (150 PS and 250 NM), along with as many as 3 gearbox options – 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter auto and 7-speed DSG – will be on offer.

The new C-segment sedan from the German marque will be feature-rich like the Taigun

When the Volkswagen Virtus reveal takes place, one might not be surprised to find that it also shares body panels and interior componentry with the Slavia.

But, the dashboard and upholstery will be different and the steering wheel will be Volkswagen’s own piece from its parts catalogue. In terms of features, the Virtus should come with the same equipment found in the Taigun.

This will include LED lighting units, digital instrument cluster, 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, wireless mobile phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, among several others.

Volkswagen is expected to introduce the car in Comfortline, Highline, Topline, GT and GT Plus variants like it did with the Taigun. The GT variants will come with comparatively sportier styling.
