Yamaha unveils Aerox-E electric scooter with 106 km range and advanced features
Yamaha has unveiled the Aerox-E, an electric version of its popular Aerox 155 scooter, at a recent showcase alongside the XSR155. The Aerox-E retains the sporty appeal of the original while introducing an electric powertrain and advanced features tailored for urban riders.
Powertrain and Performance
The Yamaha Aerox-E is powered by a motor delivering 9.5kW of peak power and 48 Nm of torque, paired with dual 1.5kWh removable battery packs that together provide a total capacity of 3kWh. Yamaha claims a certified range of 106 km on a full charge. The electric scooter weighs 139 kg, about 13 kg heavier than its petrol counterpart. It also offers three riding modes – Eco, Standard and Power – along with a Boost mode for short bursts of added performance.
Design and Features
While the Aerox-E shares its core design with the Aerox 155, it incorporates key updates to suit its electric identity. It features a TFT digital display with app-based connectivity, replacing the LCD unit seen on the petrol model. The scooter continues to sport Yamaha’s twin-LED headlight and LED tail-light setup, maintaining its signature sporty aesthetic. However, the boot space has been slightly reduced due to the redesigned structure accommodating the battery system.
Braking and Ride Experience
Braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes, with ABS ensuring stability and control. Yamaha has also made subtle changes to the scooter’s ergonomics to enhance comfort and deliver a more engaging riding experience.
Launch Prospects
Yamaha has so far only showcased the Aerox-E, and official launch details or market availability for India remain unannounced. When launched, it is expected to compete with other high-performance electric scooters in the premium segment.
