Yamaha has launched the Aerox Electric in India at an introductory ex-showroom price starting from Rs. 2.81 lakhs. The electric scooter was first showcased alongside the XSR155 and now joins the brand’s lineup as its most expensive product currently on sale in the country.
The Aerox Electric is powered by an electric motor producing 9.5 kW of peak power and 48 Nm of torque. It draws energy from two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs, which Yamaha says use high-energy-density cells. The scooter has a claimed IDC-certified range of 117 km on a full charge.
To suit different riding conditions, the Aerox Electric comes with Eco, Standard and Power riding modes. It also features a Boost mode that temporarily delivers additional performance for situations such as quick overtaking.
The scooter retains much of the styling of the petrol-powered Aerox 155, including its twin LED headlamps and LED tail-lamp. However, it gets a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, replacing the LCD display found on the internal combustion model.
Braking is handled by a front disc brake with ABS and a rear disc brake. The Aerox Electric has a kerb weight of 139 kg, making it 13 kg heavier than the standard Aerox 155.
Yamaha has initially introduced the Aerox Electric in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. Prices start at Rs. 2.81 lakhs (ex-showroom) in Delhi and Bengaluru, while buyers in Mumbai, Pune and Chennai will have to pay Rs. 2.82 lakhs (ex-showroom).
