Over 23,000 units (combined) of the FZ25 and Fazer 25 are recalled

India Yamaha Motor introduced the FZ25 to the Indian market in January last year and followed it up with the launch of its faired sibling, the Fazer 25, in August. In a segment where recalls are carried out silently to avoid a bad rep in the media, Yamaha recalls FZ25 and Fazer 25 over an issue leading to the loosening of an engine head cover bolt.

The company says that the issue has impacted motorcycles manufactured after January 2017, which equals to a majority of FZ25 and Fazer 25 on the roads as the official launch took place on 24th January post which customer deliveries would have begun. To be precise, 21,640 units of the FZ25 and 2257 units of the Fazer 25 are to be recalled which takes the total tally to 23,897 units.

“The affected motorcycles will be repaired free of cost at any of the Yamaha authorised dealers and the owners will be contacted individually,” the company cleared in a statement. Yamaha will also be coordinating with its dealers to smoothly carry out the replacements which are required as a part of this recall.

The Yamaha FZ25 is a street-fighter motorcycle powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor which pumps out 20.9 PS of power and 20 Nm of torque. Its faired sibling, the Fazer 25, borrows many parts from it including the engine, gearbox, suspension as well as braking hardware. The motorcycles get disc brakes on both the wheels and are suspended via telescopic forks and a monoshock at the front and rear respectively.
