The Yamaha Saluto now gets a front disc brake and has been updated with four new colours and body graphics. This launch comes after just a few months since the 125cc bike was launched.

Yamaha India has launched a new front disc equipped version of the Saluto priced at Rs. 54,500/- in the country. In addition to the front disc brake, the Saluto also gets four new colours and body graphics on offer including Glory Green, Dashing White, Majestic Red and Bold Blue. The Saluto was launched in India in April this year as an economical and practical 125cc motorcycle to compete against the likes of Honda CB Shine, Hero Glamour and TVS Phoenix among others.

Since the only mechanical update is a front disc brake, the Yamaha Saluto continues with the existing specifications with power coming from a 125cc two-valve, four-stroke, single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 8.2 BHP at 7000 RPM and 10.1 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The Saluto is also the lightest offering in its class weighing just 112 kgs, which helps make it Yamaha’s most fuel efficient motorcycle to go on sale in India, returning an ARAI certified 78 km/l.

The disc brake equipped Yamaha Saluto is priced at a premium of Rs. 2500/- over the drum brake version. The company also stated that the Saluto is aimed to provide safer and more controlled biking experience for city traffic conditions. The motorcycle segment in India is 11 million units strong and the 100-125cc space accounts for 9 million units, translating into 83 percent of total market share. The new colour schemes and graphics are expected to help Yamaha sell its new offering better as the Japanese company hasn’t been able to sell its commuter bikes in volumes in the domestic market.
