Yamaha could launch their first off-road bike in India by 2021.

The WR155R could be Yamaha’s first off-road bike in our country

Last month we told you about Yamaha introducing the WR155R in Indonesia. Now this bike is likely to be launched in India by next year. It will be the first off-road motorcycle from Yamaha in India if launched.

The Japanese bike maker is currently studying the market. If they get a positive response and price it competitively then the launch is possible in 2021.

The off-road/adventure motorcycles demand in India has spiked recently. There is a void between the Hero XPulse 200 and the Royal Himalayan which Yamaha is considering to fill.

It shares the same engine with the Yamaha R15 so the company could save a lot of cost on the WR155R. The off-road bike is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine churning out 16.5 BHP and 14.3 Nm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.

It is based on a semi-double cradle frame with 21-inch front wheels and 18-inch rear wheels. Suspension duties come from 41 mm front forks and preload-adjustable gas charged rear monoshock.

There is 240 mm single disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. The WR155R has 245 mm ground clearance and weighs 134 kg. It has a high 888 mm seat height, which is 65 mm more than the XPulse. Now only time will confirm the launch of the Yamaha WR155R.
