Yamaha XSR250 Spotted
The fuel tank gives away the bike’s identity

A development mule of what is believed to be the Yamaha XSR250 has been spotted on Yamuna Expressway recently.

The retro style motorcycle market is getting stronger in India with each passing month with many manufacturers joining the bandwagon of late.

Yamaha might be done waiting and by the looks of things, the Japanese firm looks set to enter the segment with a quarter-litre offering.

Sporting the wheels of the FZ25, the test mule spotted out in the public had the familiar XSR-series fuel tank, a single piece seat and a short tail.

As far as the riding position is concerned, the rider is seen sitting upright with his feet and hands placed at relaxed positions.

But, it is not even close to being a finished article, a fact made clear by the test headlight unit and the tail lamp. The mechanical bits are likely to have been borrowed from the FZ25 and they look to be sorted already.

This should mean that the FZ25’s 249cc motor good for 20.8 PS and 20.1 Nm of torque will power the motorcycle and it should be paired with a 5-speed transmission.

The bike also has a digital instrument cluster that should sport the Bluetooth connectivity feature. Further, expect the upcoming motorcycle to have LED lighting units, as well.

What’s more, Yamaha had last year trademarked the FZ-X title and we cannot help but wonder if this is the motorcycle that would bear that moniker.

With the Yamaha XSR250 spotted on test, more images of the upcoming bike are expected to surface online in the near future and they should provide us with more information about the product.
