The California Superbike School, the foremost motorcycle racing school in the world, has come to Chennai. The school was started by the legendary Keith Code, arguably the best known and most successful on track motorcycle instructor in the world and today operates in 15 countries, and comes to South East Asia for the first time. The school is dedicated to the improvement of riding skills for racing or just street riding. People who missed a chance to book their Nano first/last time around can now soon book the worlds cheapest car. Tata Motors is set to re-open the bookings of the Nano once the mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat commences production of the car. However don’t worry if you are not in a position to book your Tata Nano in May, because the bookings of the Nano will be open forever and the dealers will also start offering test drives once production becomes stable.

The Toyota Q World was held in Mumbai which was a two day event at MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex. The exhibit included an array of 11 vehicles including the Prius, Prado Diesel, Fortuner and Land Cruiser. With the Etios concept – ‘World First, India First’, the company is set to enter the mass volume segment. To ensure maximum accessibility to the customers, Toyota India will expand their sales/service network to about 150 dealers by the end of 2010. After Chandigarh, Lucknow and Mumbai, Toyota Q World will travel to 7 other cities namely Ahmedabad, Pune, Cochin, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The 2010 edition of the Bajaj Pulsar 150 gets a slight bump in peak power along with clip-ons. Tanay got a chance to see the bike and says owners of the bike can easily fit the clip-ons on their older machines due to similar forks on them. Clip-ons not only provide a sportier look but are also less prone to damages in case of accidents. The 2010 Pulsar 150 is dearer by Rs. 500/- which seems quite nominal. (more…)

The Hyundai Verna got a mild facelift in its home market last year and this year the company plans to give us the facelift in India. Dubbed the Verna Transform, the car received a number of technical enhancements along with heavily updated exterior and a few minor interior upgrades. The New Hyundai Verna Transform features a revised front fascia with more aggressive overall exterior look thanks to redesigned headlights, new signature grille with two bars, sportier front bumper, redesigned fog lights, larger air intakes, redesigned tail-lights, redesigned rear bumper. Inside, the new Verna Transform sports a revised center stack along with interior instrumentation lightning change from current green to blue. Engine specifications remain the same. (more…)

What you see above is a custom made bike powered by an Alfa Romeo 2.5 liter V6 engine with 156 horses on tap. The AlfaBeast as Chris Barber likes to call it uses a Kraftec frame with six individual exhaust pipes and Weber carburetors breathing through a set of pipes that stick out from the fuel tank. The engine is rebuilt with new bearings and rings, the tranny has new shafts, gears and bearings. Front forks, discs and calipers come from a Kawasaki ZXR750. (more…)

Nissan India is showcasing the 370Z across the country with the launch of the Gran Tour De Nissan 370Z. The Nissan 370Z will be at company dealerships and key malls in ten cities across the country. The road show which will be flagged off from Mumbai on 9th February and will travel to Pune (Feb 10-14), Cochin (Feb 19-21), Chennai (Feb 26-28), Bangalore (March 5-7), Hyderabad (March 12-14), Delhi (March 20-22), Chandigarh (March 26-28), Ludhiana (March 30-April 4) and Ahmedabad (April 9-11). Volkswagen India celebrated as the 11,111,111th Polo ever produced rolled out from the company’s Pune facility. The plant which was opened in 2009 is a key element in Volkswagen’s future growth within the Indian subcontinent. At the event, the German President toured the new Volkswagen plant in Maharashtra accompanied by a delegation of 30 high-ranking representatives from politics and industry. The group found out about the training programs for the newly recruited employees and the innovative production processes at the plant. (more…)

The first production model of the Ford Figo was driven off the assembly line today with Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu D. M Karunanidi, Dr. M K Stalin (Deputy CM), Michael Boneham (president and MD, Ford India), Raj Nair (Ford VP of operations, Asia Pacific and Africa), Sandip Sanyal (Ford executive director of operations for India) and nearly three thousand employees of the newly expanded facilities were on hand to take part in the ceremony.
