2013 Chevrolet Spin

The success of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is no hidden fact, with the car receiving more than 35000 bookings in the first month of its launch. As Maruti Suzuki calls it LUV (Life Utility Vehicle), the Ertiga has a created a sensation in the segment and the rivals are preparing themselves to make the segment even hotter. Rumors about General Motors developing a minivan started to circle. But now there is no mystery about the name and more details have been reveled about GM’s Ertiga challenger courtesy of our Brazilian friends at Noticias Automotivas. This new minivan from GM will be called Chevrolet Spin and will be a 7-seater.

The spy shots of the car was taken in Brazil and we must say the new Chevrolet Spin seems to be very impressive and promising. The styling of the Chevrolet Spin is clearly inspired by the Orlando minivan with giant grill and long headlamps in the front. At the rear, the tail lamps are small and almost rectangular in shape. The interiors of the Spin are very Chevy and very American, the steering is inspired from the Chevrolet Cruze. The Chevrolet Spin will be powered by Econo Flex 1.8-litre engine which will produce 130 HP.

GM will most likely bring the Chevrolet Spin to India by 2014. There is no official news about the Spin from Chevrolet India yet. But if launched and priced aggressively in India, it will surely give the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo a run for their money. Expect a price of around Rs. 8 lakhs for the base variant of the Spin, which will borrow engines from the Enjoy MPV. The Spin could be positioned slightly higher than the Enjoy, helping the company cater to a wider audience.
