Honda Brio Amaze Launched In Thailand

Honda Brio Amaze India

Honda has launched the Brio Amaze in Thailand in both manual and automatic versions powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Japanese automaker is betting big on the Honda Amaze for emerging markets, pricing it very aggressively. This is the smallest sedan ever built by Honda yet. The reason for developing the Honda Brio sedan under 4-metres in length is to benefit from lower excise duties received by small cars in India. Honda has done a good job in integrating the boot on the Amaze, without making it look out of place. The Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire’s boot looks like an after thought.

Honda Brio Amaze Thailand Pricing –

Amaze S M/T – 4,54,000 Baht – Rs. 8.18 lakhs
Amaze V M/T – 4,82,000 Baht – Rs. 8.68 lakhs
Amaze S A/T – 4,93,000 Baht – Rs. 8.88 lakhs
Amaze V A/T – 5,21,000 Baht – Rs. 9.38 lakhs

The Honda Amaze compact sedan will be launched in India by April 2013. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor will be powering the Amaze, making it the first Honda car in India to run on diesel technology. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor will be lifted from the Brio and Jazz, to offer decent performance and good economy. While the diesel engine is expected to produce around 80 BHP of power, the petrol engine will produce 88 BHP of power. With a low weight of 925 kgs (petrol variant), the Brio Amaze will offer very good performance and mileage. The vehicle has a fuel tank capacity of just 35-litres.

Honda Brio Amaze Rear Legroom

The legroom on the Honda Amaze is very good, compared to its main rivals. Not only does the car have a longer wheelbase than its hatchback version, the rear doors are longer too, enabling better ingress for rear seat occupants. The rear seat gets an arm rest too but the headrests are fixed. The Amaze can seat five people comfortably and the quarter glass windows at the rear reduces the claustrophobic feeling found in compact sedans. Cup holders have been added to the doors as well. Clearly these minor changes have been undertaken to ensure the Amaze appeals to the chauffeur driven in India. It remains to be seen how Honda India prices their first compact sedan.

It appears that it will have a bright future in India with 1.5 L diesel engine (90 BHP, 21 Kgm torque). If all around, it dethrones tacky Dzire due to features, comfort and price then market will be flooded with used Dzire. Honda should not repeat the mistake of past of not providing rear defogger and footrest. In India, even Maruti 800 is chauffeur driven then what to say about other cars. This diesel engine will also do miracle to City.

Heck, I have seen a chauffeur driven Nano. Honda has a good product at hand, price it at par with Dzire and they will have a winner at hand. Maruti should be worried. But if Honda charges premium (like they always do), this product will fail.

  • crazywheels

At last we have a sedan within 10 lakh price range with a mix of comfort and power .

  • Naveen

Teribbly over priced. Cant match up with maruti wide network and dealership

    • Sushrut

Naveen, these are Thailand prices. India prices will be different and very competitive.

Neednot to forget Hyundai is cuming up with i20 sedan…:D

  • This is the most beautiful sedan with less than 4m length. This doent look like a after thought, which is clearly visible in other cars like DZire, Indigo. If Honda can manage to price it closer to DZire they have a winner. Even a small premium over Dzire will work in favour of Honda as Honda products are more desirable than Maruti. And it looks prettier than DZire.

    Good luck Honda.

It’s a good car & far better looking than Dezire. Price should be between 5.50-7 lacs to take away buyers from Dezire.
It’s key rivals will be : Dezire, Indigo cs,Upcoming Verito cs, Manza cs & Sail Sedan.

    Competition is really tough~

    • Pawan, Amaze will be more costly than DZire.

    • Shalinder

Amaze will be 50k+ dearer to DZire

  • Navjot SIngh Cheema

    yakkkkh , ugly exteriors
I think chevrolet sail sedan is much better option than amaze(and desire,of coarse)

  • syed mainuddin

its definitely much much better than the ongoing desire. and if the power is as good on road as on paper, it’ll sell a lot. nvh is another area where the car will have to pass. as for the looks, people are expecting too much from honda looking at the city, civic, accord etc.. if the same engine would have made way in the city then the price would hv been 10l+ which again is a diff story n draws a lot of other cars better than it. Just keep ur fingers crossed honda doesnt charge a premium this time and infact place it at par with the desire. sales chart will be on fire then.

  • Abitha

Faisal, can you compare features/pricing of Amaze vs Sail..

    • Abitha, sure we can but the Amaze is much better overall. Its even better than the DZire.
