Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition Launched

Hero Splendor Pro Gold Edition

Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer has launched a special edition version of their high selling motorcycle Splendor, feeling the heat from its erstwhile partner Honda, who launched a new entry level motorcycle couple of days ago named Honda Dream Neo, pitched directly against the Hero Splendor. Similar response was seen by Maruti Suzuki introducing a special edition version of the DZire against the launch of Honda’s first diesel powered car priced similarly, the Amaze.

According to Hero MotoCorp, the company is celebrating the Splendor’s 20 year old existence in India by launching the Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition. The most evident change in the special edition Splendor is the shiny new golden color paintjob with ‘special edition’ stickers, rest of the bike remains unchanged featuring the same frugal 4-stroke 97.2 cc single-cylinder engine producing a peak power of 7.6 BHP at 7500 RPM with a peak torque of 8.04 Nm at 4500 RPM, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. Hero MotoCorp claims the Splendor Pro returns a class leading mileage of 79 km/l.

The Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition version comes equipped with alloy wheels and a self start mechanism. The Splendor is the best selling motorcycle in the world and is in great demand, competing with the likes of recently launched Honda Dream Neo, Bajaj Discover 100 and TVS Star City. The Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition is priced at Rs. 48,500/- (ex-showroom Delhi), which is around Rs. 1000/- more than the standard version of the Splendor Pro.

This is third attempt by honda to compete against splendor. Repeated failure….and even this time too….the dream to overtake hero will remain a dream :D
Forget splendor….yoga cant sell more than bajaj platina…what those honda people hyping about ?

  • crazywheels

Yuga and shine already boosted up Honda sales to rank then at the second position. Its a fact that yuga is a huge success. The sales of Yuga shows that people are still going for conventional style motorcycle than the muscular ones. Splendour need an engine upgrade not a cosmetic one like they put the Yuga engine in the passion pro and made it passion XPRO. Yuga’s 110 cc engine is the best in class commuter engine. Splendour sales got down in a huge margin to Yuga according to SIAM. Accept the truth.

    • Neo

Are you really crazy ? After having so much bikes in commuter segment hondo sells half of BIKES what bajaj does. Yoga sells 30k a month which is far less than what platina does…..forget splendor. If u have data of SIAM pls post here….simply writing rubbish will not work…:D

Honda has only two bikes in commuter segment- Yuga and Neo. Twister and CB shine are premium bikes and not come in commuter segment. Thats why Yuga boosted up Honda sales. Also Platina is almost out of showroom especially in South India, Discover 100 ST is here instead of platina.

Also barclays a great suppliet to Bajaj downgraded Bajaj as the sales grew down in a fast manner and they also said because of the huge demand of Yuga instead of Splendour, they age also going to downgrade Hero.

      is it enough?

    • Rajesh

Boy u need some education…yuga, neo, shine & the rest all feature in the deluxe segment…unicorn, trigger, cbr150, dazzler & the likes feature in premium…cbr250 features in premium. N btw yuga, dazzler, twister all put together do not even account to 8% of their over all sales. Until the launch of the scooters with HET engines, their scooters too were on a decline. Major contributors for HMSI last year were Shine & Unicorn!! Crazywheels please take some rest

abe o bewakoof… Dream yuga helped gain market for honda thik hai. Dream yuga is best selling honda motorcycle. Not best seller in india. Samjha ki nahi bewakuf.

    • Rajesh

from the jibberish you just spelt out..I really wonder if you could really even abbreviate SIAM, let alone quoting nos!!
