2013 Suzuki Swift Update

Suzuki has revised and added new versions of the Swift hatchback in the UK market. Just recently, the Japanese automaker introduced a 4×4 version of the Swift followed by a 5-door version of the Swift Sport. Suzuki has now introduced an updated version of the regular Swift hatchback with some changes, which was earlier revealed but now the company has announced it officially. The updated styling of the Swift includes a re-designed front bumper with a new grille and LED daytime running lights integrated in the fog lamps housing (a la Hyundai i20). There is a new LED type high level brake lamp at the rear too.

Suzuki also updated the interiors with a new seat fabric finished in black with lined accents of blue and grey. The Swift is well equipped with three variants on offer – SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4. The feature list includes seven airbags, ESP, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, integrated audio unit, steering wheel mounted audio controls, Bluetooth connectivity, new design 16-inch alloy wheels, power folding mirrors with integrated turn indicators, automatic air conditioning, push button keyless start, auto headlamps and cruise control.

Will Maruti Suzuki offer any of these features on the Indian Swift? We certainly hope so as cars like the Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo and Nissan Micra are now coming loaded with a lot of equipment.

The diesel version of the Suzuki Swift gets an updated 1.3-litre DDiS engine that generates lower CO2 emissions of 101 g/km and 7 percent better combined fuel economy of 25.6 km/l, which beats the Indian Swift’s 22.9 km/l ARAI mileage figure. Suzuki is offering VAT free schemes with the Swift and the prices start from £8999 (Rs. 8.17 lakhs) in the UK. We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the updated Swift in the Indian market but without the high end features such as cruise control, ESP, push button start, etc.
