We have been telling you since months that Bajaj has been working on an new Platina that will hit showrooms next year and now confirming our early reports; the new Bajaj Platina 100cc commuter was caught testing for the first time. The Pune based two-wheeler manufacturer was testing two variants of the Platina as seen in the images with one version wearing complete camouflage, while the other test mule was completely undisguised and was essentially the outgoing model.

Despite the heavy camouflage, one can make out that the changes on the 2015 Bajaj Platina are not radical and would be very subtle compared to the outgoing model. The test mules use the same headlight, tail light cluster, turn indicators and 5-spoke alloy wheels as seen on the current version and are most likely to get revised body graphics and refurbished body panels on the new model for a more appealing look.

In terms of mechanicals, the spied Platina 100 received a new silencer hinting towards an improved powertrain. While the outgoing model uses a 99cc ExhausTEC engine producing 8.2 PS of power and 8.5 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox; the new Platina could get a comprehensively improved and refined engine with more power output and will also be tuned to offer better fuel efficiency over the current version. The test mule was also equipped with telescopic front forks and SNS (Shock-in-Spring) rear shock absorbers, while stopping power comes from drum brakes at the front and rear, much like the current model.

2015 will certainly be an interesting year for Bajaj Auto as a slew of product launches have been planned by the manufacturer. Apart from the new Platina, the automaker also has the updated Pulsar range as well as a new Discover 125 scheduled for launch next year, which will cumulatively help Bajaj capture 30 percent of market share by the end of next year.
