Royal Enfield is a cult two-wheeler brand in India and its sales have just been increasing from the past few years. The company launched the Continental GT as an all-new product in 2013. After that, the bike manufacturer hasn’t launched any new product leaving aside the Despatch limited edition bikes in 2015. Officials from the company have now stated that Royal Enfield will launch a new product every year, starting from 2016, for a period of up to 5 years. Also, the company will launch an all-new product after 3 years. The next product is going to be the Himalayan which has been spotted many times undergoing testing.

The new bikes from Royal Enfield will come in capacities ranging from 250cc to 750cc. This year, the company is investing Rs. 500 crore in product development and some other departments. A very big chunk of investment is also going towards their R&D centre in old Mahabalipuram, Chennai. The company states that they are investing on a technical centre inside city limits so that their engineers don’t have to travel very far. Royal Enfield is also expanding its production capacity to reduce waiting periods on all their bikes.

As of now, the average waiting period is approximately 9 months but the company is reducing it to 5 months. Currently the company produces 30,000 units per year and this capacity will be increased to 50,000 units by the beginning of 2016. The present portfolio of Royal Enfield consists of the Bullet 350, Bullet 500, Bullet Electra, Classic 350, Classic 500, Classic Chrome, Classic Battle Green, Classic Desert Storm, Thunderbird 350, Thunderbird 500 and the Continental GT.
