Nissan Micra X-Shift India Launch
Changes to the exteriors of the Nissan Micra are minimal

To commemorate the Micra’s fifth anniversary in the market, Nissan India has launched the 2015 Micra X-Shift Limited Edition variant with prices starting at Rs. 6.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automaker’s most popular offering overseas and the most exported car from India, the Nissan Micra may not have enjoyed the same kind of love in the country, but does manage to please a few courtesy of its fun engine and handling capabilities. With the new X-Shift variant, Nissan has introduced convenience features and cosmetic upgrades on the XL trim which gets matched to an automatic transmission. Only 750 units of the Micra XL CVT Limited Edition are available post which the XL CVT trim will be sold without the limited edition features.

Styling – On the outside, the 2015 Nissan Micra X-Shift limited edition gets a black roof wrap with graphics on the door for a sporty look and X-Shift stickers on either side. The exhaust tip is finished in chrome while the car continues to ride on 14-inch steel rims on the base XL variant. The red colour on the car is limited while silver and white shades are also offered. On the inside, upgrades are more ergonomic on the XV CVT trim with the addition of reverse park assist, new handrest, floor mats and LED scuff plates. The steering wheel is new with all the controls located on the left, while the power window switches get finished with satin silver inserts. You continue to get a 2-DIN audio unit with USB and AUX connectivity and a manual AC unit on the Micra.

Mechanicals – Power on the Nissan Micra X-Shift limited edition comes from the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine tuned to produce 76 PS at 6000 RPM and 104 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. Based on the XL trim, the X-Shift version is available with a CVT automatic transmission only which is the high point of this edition. Nissan has used the fourth generation CVT autobox on the Micra that reduces the rubber band effect, thereby offering a smoother drive and improved gear shifts.

Fuel Efficiency – Nissan says the Micra X-Shift automatic is more fuel efficient than the manual version returning an ARAI certified mileage figure of 19.34 km/l.

In addition, the Nissan Micra X-Shift XL CVT gets ABS as standard along with the existing driver side airbag as part of the safety kit. With the growing popularity of automatic models in the country, the Japanese manufacturer is aiming to capitalize on the market sentiment by offering an auto transmission on the base variant and some essential features, all of which make for a competitive pricing.
