Bajaj Auto had announced a launch of new bike every month for the first six months of 2009. After the January debut of the XCD135, no motorcycle was launched in February. However, Bajaj did unveil three variants of the Pulsar 200 at a Probiking showroom in Pune. The bikes were displayed for the enthusiasts to choose the best option among the three. This was done as the company planned to finalize the facelifted version of the Pulsar 200 based on this survey.
All three variants sported the engine from the current Pulsar 200 DTS-i with the motor tuned to produce a maximum power of 19PS as against 18PS in the current model. Apart from the slight increase of power, the bikes had a lot of visual variation. The first bike was fitted with clip-on handlebars, a rear disc brake and bigger front forks – all borrowed from the Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi. This upgrade definitely looked promising with the street fighter character of the bike being upped with some really useful bits. The second variant was a ditto copy of the P220 except that this one sported an all-black engine and alloys. The bike sported the P220’s fairing as an addition apart from the front forks, rear disc and clip-on handlebars. The quarter fairing provided on the bike seemed to kill the urban fighter image of the P200. The third variant was similar to the second without the rear disc brake.
Apart from the Pulsar 200, the showroom guys also said that a facelifted version of the P180 will hit the market which will sport the looks of the current P200. The Pulsar 220 is expected to be launched with a better tuned engine and a slight increase in power plus an all-black treatment to the engine and the alloys. Survey officials said that Bajaj was planning a price tag of Rs 77,000 (approx. OTR, Pune) for the first P200 variant. The variant which was an exact copy of the P220 may debut at a price of Rs 79,000 (approx. OTR, Pune).

August 18th, 2009 at 1:59 am
should i get a p180 new or p200 new,if both power and effeciency is concerned, and moreover both with same looks except silencer.
can u give me a figure of what is the effeciency of 180 and 200,in city and highway, just an overview ,and the price difference?
August 18th, 2009 at 10:41 am
hi frnzzz………………
wanna kno dat does d p200 now comes with clip-on handlbar like d new p180…….?????
August 18th, 2009 at 11:21 am
Pranav and Sumit, the P200 has been discontinued. You can’t get a new one anymore so now only P180 or P220 is an option. P180 gives 40kmpl in the city and 45kmpl on the highway.
August 20th, 2009 at 10:12 am

August 20th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
my q is also the same, that is bajaj gonna add the 200 silencer to 180.
and what will be the expected milage of the new pulsar 220 dtsi?
August 20th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
one more thing
is the silencer of 180 new tilted upward with the same gradient as was of 200????????
August 20th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
what is p220 dtsi new costing on-road?
August 20th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Sumit, the P220 DTSi gives a mileage around 35-40kmpl.
Pranav, price of the P220 DTSi is Rs. 70,000/- ex-showroom, Delhi. The P200 silence is different from the P180. Bajaj might add the P200 silencer to the P180 but not in the near future.
August 20th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Sumit, Bajaj might give the P180 the silencer of the P200 but not in the near future. Mileage of the P220 in city is around 35kmpl and on the highway it is around 40kmpl. Again it all depends on your riding style.

hi fas.. i was abt to buy a pulsar 200 but settled wit 150 ug4.. i dint go for 180 since i liked d silencer of d 200 which 180 does not hav.. 180 is hard to ride in city condition considerin weight.. my question is , is it possible to increase d power of my bike.. i am not satisfied wit d performance.. n my bike started wobbles at front wheel.. i dont know d reason y it happenes lik this.. feels unsafe especially in rainy seasons.. i am using nitrogen in tyres.. my rear shocks makes sounds when crossing pothholes.. my mechanic said to replace d shocks in warranty.. are filters used to increase d power n pick up.. let me know d possible solutions..
February 11th, 2010 at 12:07 am
Prabhakar, Pulsars are said to be very unreliable and quality is inconsistent. You should visit a Bajaj service center and tell them to rectify all the problems under warranty.
March 11th, 2010 at 9:06 am
i dont like pulsars, see r15 a 150cc bike can reach 140 , n the 200 just above 130, really bad
