Hyundai India will launch a more powerful version of the i20 petrol. The Hyundai i20 is currently powered by the 1.2L Kappa engine which gets excise duty benefits. However the new engine won’t get any such benefits. The 1.4L i20 will be equipped with automatic transmission, a first for the segment. The i20 1.4L will not have a manual transmission variant. The 1.4L engine generates 99PS@5500rpm and 137NM@4700rpm.

People say that 1.2L engine is not enough for i20(not sure if there is any serious issue with it). so 1.4L will cater the needs of those who hunger for power. but its sad only automatic transmission is available, making it expensive in 1.4 variant.
Big questions..
1—->Mileage?
2—->Price?
I guess Hyundai has made serious mistakes in pricing i20. price difference between 1.2- 1.4 petrol- 1.4 Diesel -i30(if launched)-
Hyundai will have to reconsider it I guess. i30 can exceed the price of a new Honda city if it goes like this….and Honda is a different player..the brand does matter…listen hyundai..

Kiran, the 1.2 is pretty decent for the city. However if you want more power then you should look elsewhere. BTW the i20 1.2 is more driveable than the Swift petrol. Mileage will be less then 1.2 Kappa. Price will be slightly higher then 1.2 and less than 1.4 CRDi.
