Could Mercedes-Benz India Launch The GLK-Class?

The German luxury car major, Mercedes Benz has revealed the facelifted version of its mighty SUV, the GLK. The GLK rivals with its German counterparts, the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5 and the facelifted version seems to have heated the game to a higher level. However the pricing of the GLK-Class under cuts that of its rivals and the GLK-Class slots right between the Audi Q3 / Audi Q5 and BMW X1 / BMW X3. Mercedes Benz will be displaying the updated GLK SUV at the upcoming New York International Auto Show due to be held next month.

The facelifted Mercedes Benz GLK SUV gets some revision in its exterior design and interior features apart from getting some engine options in some countries. On the exterior, the GLK SUV gets revised front headlamps with new LED daytime running lights in chrome clasp, front bumpers and a revised front grille. It also receives revised designs for tail lamps and rear bumpers. The new facelifted version of the GLK SUV does away with the different types of bumpers with specific on-road and off-road packages and instead gets the same front and rear bumpers on all models. The GLK SUV also receives new 17 inch, 19 inch and 20-inch wheels.

Under the hood, Mercedes Benz is offering 5 engine options out of which 4 are diesels. The gasoline unit is available in the GLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with a displacement of 3.5 litres V6 producing 302 BHP of power. In diesels, the GLK SUV comes in 4 variants, the GLK 200 CDI, GLK 220 CDI, GLK 250 BlueTEC each with a 2.2 litre engine producing different power outputs and GLK 350 CDI which comes with a 3.0 litre V6 unit which produces 262 BHP. The 2.2 litre diesel produces 141 BHP in the GLK 200 CDI, 168 BHP in the GLK 220 CDI, 201 BHP in the GLK 250 BlueTEC. Some new added features include ATTENTION ASSIST, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Detection. Could Mercedes-Benz launch the GLK-Class in India at Rs. 35 lakhs and steal some thunder?
