2014 TVS Star City+ Review Front

First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in February this year, TVS Motor has launched the Star City+ 110cc motorcycle in the country in kick start and electric start variants. Based on the Star City 110cc motorcycle, the Star City+ gets new features added to the bike for a more premium appeal along with new and improved body graphics. The motorcycle competes against the Honda Dream Yuga, Mahindra Centuro, Suzuki Hayate, Bajaj Discover 100 Series and the Hero Passion xPro in the segment.

The 2014 TVS Star City+ comes with a load of features which include clear lens indicators, adjustable shocks, alloy wheels, electric start, number plate illuminating light, paper air filter and much more. Adding aesthetic appeal to the motorcycle is the chrome finished handlebars, coloured shock absorber springs and the stainless steel muffler guard. The stylish new body graphics add a breath of fresh air to the bike. The 110 motorcycle is based on a tubular single cradle frame and uses telescopic front forks and five step adjustable shock absorbers at the rear.

The Star City+ is powered by a new 109.7cc engine that is capable of producing 8.3 PS of power at 7000 RPM and 8.7 Nm of torque at a lower 5000 RPM. The engine is paired to a 4-speed transmission, while the top speed is rated at 90 km/hr. The claimed fuel efficiency is 85 km/l. Stopping power comes from the 130 mm drum brake at the front and 110 mm at the rear. The Star City+ does miss out on the option of a disc brake. The Star City+ also gets an analogue instrument console with a digital speedometer and service reminder feature.

The TVS Star City+ has certainly the goodies to lure entry-level motorcycle buyers with the feature rich package. The top-end version with electric start and alloy wheels has been priced at Rs. 44,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Star City+ impressed us on our test ride and the pricing is spot on too.
