TVS Apache 180 ABS Test Ride Review

TVS was never known for being aggressive but time forces everybody to do something radical or at least stay up on their toes. TVS has a learned a lot from the past few years with the new motorcycles they have been making for commuter as well as future upgrades which are coming soon in the form of quarter-litre bikes. We can take the example of the Draken concept and step-through products which TVS makes for international markets.

We have now got to know that learnings specially from the EcoThrust series of engine is immense for TVS. There are so many changes made to the latest 110cc engine that it makes the two year old 125cc EcoThrust engine feel minutely dated. Obviously with all these immense changes taking place, some changes may be forwarded to other products as well because the products have been successful, technologies have performed well and are proven by internal testing and by the consumers on the road.

Some of these changes, but not all the ideas from the EcoThrust engines will be forwarded to the Apache series of motorcycles. A new ignition system, better breathing/cooling techniques and parts such as new durable bolts, bearings, etc. will make it to the Apache to make the engine perform better in stressed situations. Power upgrade is unlikely and an official statement by TVS about these changes will be announced or not remains skeptical.

Certainly the changes made to the engine will improve the drivability, comfort and reliability of the motorcycles. Expect these changes to come just before Diwali with a bump to BS4 emission norms also being done. New colours will also debut on the Apache at the same time.
