Yamaha YZF-R250 Render

One of the leading magazines in Japan, Young Machine, has rendered the highly awaited entry level sports bike from Yamaha, the YZF-R250. With almost all major bike manufacturers having launched competent quarter-litre sports bikes, the most sporty of the Japanese bike makers, Yamaha, do not have one in their portfolio. But now this is about to change with the new YZF-R250. This bike will be a full-blooded fully-faired sports bike good for the road as well as the track.

The Yamaha YZF-R250 looks very aggressive and racy and seems to share a lot of its design with its younger sibling, the YZF-R125, which is available in many international markets. The YZF-R250 will use the lightweight Deltabox frame as opposed to a tubular frame as speculated earlier. The bike will use a cast aluminium swing arm which along with the frame should make it an excellent handler. The front suspension consists of big telescopic inverted front forks which should again help in the corners.

It is being speculated that this quarter-litre sports bike from Yamaha will use a 250cc DOHC engine which will result in superior performance and fuel efficiency. The power output is expected to be somewhere around 30 BHP. This new entrant from Yamaha will creat quite a buzz in many emerging markets like South Asian countries as well as back home in India. The exact launch dates of the YZF-R250 have not been released by Yamaha but we can expect it to be launched sometime in 2014.
