The updated A-Class gets significant bump in power and torque

Along with the launch of the new B-Class facelift, Mercedes India has introduced an updated version of the A-Class, which now gets a host of changes for a more appealing package. The A 180 SPORT and A 200 CDI SPORT now get the panoramic sunroof as standard. The 2.2-litre diesel engine of the A-Class now gets more powerful and churns out 134 BHP of power (27 BHP more) with 300 Nm of torque (50 Nm more). The German carmaker has also tweaked the suspension for Indian road conditions to make the ride more comfort oriented.

The Mercedes A-Class now comes with sportier looking 16-inch alloy wheels with a 5 twin-spoke pattern, which adds to the aggressive styling of the hot hatch. Apart from the new alloys, there are no cosmetic changes on the updated A-Class. However, the cabin has been updated with comfort package that comes with electrically adjustable lumbar support for passenger seat, matrix trim, chrome strips and sports seats with ARTICO Messancy fabric.

Mercedes has taken the feedback for the A-Class seriously and have addressed the shortcomings swiftly. The 107 BHP de-tuned oil burner felt quite underpowered for such a driver oriented hatchback but now, with the significant bump in power and torque, the A-Class is a more desirable package. Also, the tweaked suspension setup will improve the ride quality, which was a bit on the stiffer side for road conditions like ours.
