The Intermot 2014 has just begun and we already have the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and S1000F. The Japanese bike manufacturer unveiled both these beasts and at first glance we’re already impressed. The GSX-S1000 is a naked sports bike and its looks really unleash its aggressiveness. The S1000F which is essentially the same bike as the GSX-S1000 comes with the addition of a full fairing. The latter doesn’t look as aggressive as the former and the styling seems a bit sobered down.

Powering both the bikes is the same 999cc engine from the GSX-R1000 but now the engine has been retuned to churn out more power in the low to mid range. The motor has been given new and lighter pistons with iridium spark plugs. The cam profiles have also been tuned to provide more power suitable for riding on city and winding roads. The engine is placed in an aluminium chassis and the bikes also get three traction control modes – city, sporty and wet riding conditions. ABS is also standard on both the bikes.

Other factors contributing to the low and mid range torque are the long stroke design of the engine and the four-into-two-into-one exhaust system. The bikes also get a digital instrument console which displays average and current fuel efficiency. The riding position has been designed to give sporting comfort and the seat height is 815 mm. The frame of the bikes weigh lesser than the GSX-R1000 while the swingarm is right out of the current R1000.
